We’re buying a house very soon, and although the carpets should be replaced we dont want to spend that much on a new carpet right now. (carpets are in good condition just have stains and path marks) What I want to know is should we spend the money to have a professional service come in, should we rent a unit from a local company (u-haul has a carpet cleaner rental for $20 a day does anyone have any positive/negitive feedback on going that way) Or should we buy a Hoover SteamVac (they rated the highest in consumer reviews) or another home use model. We have at least 600 square feet to clean and are on a budget, and have two toddlers running around spilling all the time…

I know that a use of baking soda is to clean carpets, and that you can leave it there and then vacuum it up. I realized that I did the first step, but sort of just scrubbed the white carpet with a dry towel and never vacuumed. Can leaving the baking soda on the carpet cause damage? Because I might not return to the house that this occurred in for a while. Is it urgent that I get there anytime soon? As in, can the baking soda leave a new stain?

What is the corporation’s basis in this asset?
If David sells his stock in the new corporation to Bob for $71,000, what is the amount of his gain?
