Do they have better chemicals and equipment for cleaning the carpet than renting from the store, I want to make sure my carpet is top notch for move out inspection.
cArpet isnt really dirty but i have these red stains from a cake icing on my sons carpet

My friend is moving out.
Landlord sent him a paper saying thatmyfriend has to leave carpet steamed or landlord will withhold $140 from a deposit.
My friend had a lease that doesn’t mention cleaning at all.
Is this legal for landlord withhold money for steaming?
Can my friend sue in small claims court if landlord actually withholds the money? How likely is to win this?
PS: I myself moved many times and never particularly steamed after I left and always got my deposit in full.

I can’t decide if I want to buy a carpet cleaner ($140) or if I should just rent a rug doctor ($70 - but probably split between me and my sister so she can use it too) or hire a professional to come and clean it good once ($100) but they would have their own cleaner so I wouldn’t have to worry about that. I have about 1100 sq ft to clean. Any one have an opinion? Thanks.

I did not know that I would have to come up with an additional fee of $55.00 for carpet cleaning. Since my notice she has given me a list of things that need to be cleaned and fixed. When I moved in the apartment the carpet was matted and needed to be replaced. I noted it on our move-in papers. Can she do this?
