Carpet Cleaning Tips And Tricks » Carpeting
what’s up? asked:

We just steamed cleaned our carpeting (with a rented steam cleaner) and while we are waiting for it to dry - it really has a bad odor all throught the house!!!! We have been doing this yearly for the past 15 years and have never had this problem….Any suggestions or thoughts about what happened? Or advise on a product I can buy that will neutralize the odor in the carpet?

There are soon to be restrictions on water use, mandatory conservation & possible fines for those who exceed their allotted use. This will greatly effect Deep, Zero Residue, Carpet Carpet Cleaning in San Diego!

We are a Multi Method San Diego Carpet Cleaning company that uses all forms, methods & systems of carpet cleaning. The most labor intensive method but the most thorough method that actually removes soils & restores carpets is Truck-Mounted Steam Cleaning. This is the method that nearly all carpet manufacturers recommend for a very good reason - to protect the product that they back up with their warranty! This method uses a large volume of water to Flush & Rinse your dirty carpets of soils, bacteria, dust mites, pollens & residues.

There are a few other methods but so many systems. We prefer to take the harder route & Deep Clean all carpets via the Truck-Mount System for ethical reasons & to provide our clients with truly clean carpets free of chemical, soap & soil residues!

Now, since we have or will have water use restrictions, how will we work this out? We have Low Flow tools on our truck to zetaclear uk
provide Truckmount steam cleaning with half the amount of water that we would normally use compared to our High Flow tools. We can cut the water usage in half! This means sacrifice of that total Flush & Rinse of carpeting. This will effect those real dirty situations! Because of this we will deploy our Low Moisture system to clean the carpet in a Dry Cleaning style to break down & dissolve soils, absorb them in our special cotton towel system, then conduct a Low Moisture Steam Clean to flush & rinse out the soils & detergents.

For those carpets that are cleaned on a periodic basis we have a Low Moisture Extraction method available & our standard Low Moisture Deep Cleaning process that I prefer out of all the Low Moisture methods that we have. This process is Green & Natural, uses 10 times less water than steam cleaning & Dries in less than an hour, normally bone dry by the time I leave.

The Quality Carpet Cleaners Network here in San Diego has made drastic changes to provide San Diego with superb Low Moisture carpet cleaning! Our emphasis in on Zero Residue Deep Cleaning. We know that Dry Cleaning regardless of how you spin it will leave a chemical residue in your carpet if it is not removed by an extraction process. There is too much residue left behind on the residential scene by these Chemical Dry Cleaning cleaners! We in no way recommend Encapsulation cleaning in the home due to it’s chemical residue that is left behind for you to vacuum up!

For your water restrictions in the very near future, we have you covered for deep carpet cleaning!

Cut pile, loop pile, plush, shag, velvet, embroidery are all examples of some of the available carpeting, upholstery and tapestry choices, each with their own unique benefits. Unfortunately, they all come with a similar problem: the potential to cause a health hazard wherever they are installed because they all trap dust, dirt, moisture and odors, providing the perfect breeding ground for mites and various bacteria, including potentially life threatening mold spores. Routine sweeping and vacuuming definitely helps. Professional cleaning at regular intervals is essential – but only if you take heed to the recommendations below. Professional carpet cleaning, if not carried out responsibly and by a reputable firm that you have researched thoroughly, can be almost as harmful as leaving the problem unattended.

1. Admit you need to take better care of your carpets, rugs, tapestries and upholstery. Having your carpets, rugs, tapestries and upholstery professionally cleaned once every twelve to eighteen months is not a matter of choice, it’s a matter of health; it’s a matter of protecting and lengthening the life of your investment in your home and office furnishings.

2. Prevention is worth an ounce of cure – tip #1: If you don’t already have one, buy a welcome mat for each entrance to your home or business and encourage it use. A mat will act as a receptacle for large particles and dirt and other materials that may have attached themselves to the soles of your shoes.

3. Prevention is worth and ounce of cure – tip #2: Prevent the pile of your carpet from being crushed and worn before its time by putting a throw rug or small carpet in front of especially heavily trafficked areas, like in front of your favorite chair.

4. Commit to sweeping or vacuuming once a week. Vacuuming will remove superficial dust and dirt. Vacuum all surfaces – sofas, chairs, wall hangings, rugs, throw rugs, and of course, carpets – thoroughly using back and forth movements.

5. Move the furniture. Moving the furniture to vacuum will allow you to get to hard to reach spots. Adjust furniture placement – even an inch or two every time you vacuum – will allow the spots crushed by furniture legs to recover.

6. Treat spots immediately. It’s true. If you don’t treat a spill as soon as it happens, it’s likely to set and become a permanent, or much harder to remove, stain. Stay away from chemical treatments which may damage your carpet. Start with cold water. In most cases, a little baking soda will do the trick.

7. Know your carpet. Before you buy your carpet, ask these questions: Has it been treated with moth repellant? Is it soil resistant? Does it require dry cleaning? How long is the warranty and what does it cover?

8. Have your carpets professional cleaned at least once every twelve to eighteen months, more often for high-use areas. Don’t take our word for it, check you carpet manufacturer’s recommendation.

9. Know what deep cleaning method is right for your carpet. It has been proven that the most efficient way to clean, disinfect and sanitize carpets, rugs, tapestry and upholstery is the high-powered water extraction method, especially when carried out using truck mounted water extraction equipment. Truck mounted cleaning systems are self contained powerful units that are typically installed on vans. This is the only way that these machines can be transferred to any site. Truck mounts act like a portable washing machine for your carpets, cleaning with the power of steam and then extracting the water with dynamic pumps. The process is quicker than many other traditional processes and does not leave any chemical residue behind. Only clean, fresher smelling, newer looking results.

10. Find a professional carpet cleaning company that knows what to do and how to do it. Don’t be afraid to use your newly gained knowledge to demand that the person who cleans your carpets knows even more. Ask questions, Research cleaning methods and check customer satisfaction levels. Insist on steam cleaning with the proper equipment or you may find yourself with a carpet that looks clean on the surface, but due to inefficient drying (a by-product of low quality, low-powered steam cleaning) is actually breeding mold beneath the surface.

Carpets, rugs, tapestries and upholstery are common elements in virtually all human environments. They add beauty, comfort, style, warmth. They effectively buffer sound, and protect underlying floor surfaces, and even protect you, to some extent, if you or a loved one happens to slip or fall. Whether you bought your carpet at the supermarket or it is a family heirloom, protect your investment and your family. Have your carpets professionally cleaned using high-powered water extraction machines (steam cleaning).

Want to keep your house from dust, small insects, allergies and rugs etc? A clean home is a key for a healthy family. Every mom wants to keep her home safe and clean in every way. None of the corner can hide from her sharp eyes. Not only cloths and furniture from curtains to carpets all goes from her responsible hands.

Dust and infections can come from anywhere. You cannot regularly wash your expensive and costly curtains and carpets. Your carpet should be professionally cleaned once every year to 18 months, even if you vacuum regularly. Professional carpet cleaning extends the life of the carpeting and contributes to better air quality, reducing allergies and illness.

Carpet-Cleaning Professionally:

Dry extraction, it’s different from only a “moisture-controlled” process. In this cleaner applies controlled amount of moisture to clean the carpet and still leave it dry. Just like the do-it-yourself “dry” method, but the equipment is larger and much more thorough.

They use the same cleaning chemical but controls the amount of chemical and process in which it applied. With two counter-revolving brushes, a machine moves the cleaning agents through the carpet’s material. Enough liquid applies to dissolve the dirt after that re-absorbs the soil and liquid then vacuuming and immediate use. Some times carbonate cleaning solution sprayed on the carpet because it allows the cleaning agents to get to the carpet fibers with minimal wetting. Dissolved dirt is removed with machine.

Many carpets cleaner does not support this wet method because of there of its over-wetting risk. You can hire better and professional carpet cleaners for your special, delicate and costly carpets.

Carpet Stains and Carpet-Cleaning Extras

Extra charges 4 Carpet stain removal? Some firms include stain removal in the base price. Other firms charge extra for highly soiled areas or for individual stains. Ask about this up front.

Carpet pretreatment: Most wet-cleaning results can be improved by spraying a cleaning agent on the carpet a few minutes before cleaning. The chemicals help dissolve grease and oils so that the final cleaning extracts even more dirt. For some firms this is standard procedure; others may charge extra by the square foot or room. Be sure to ask.
