Happy Little Trees asked:

We live in San Diego and need our carpets cleaned DESPERATELY. I have not heard great things about the mainstream companies (Stanley Steemer, etc..)

Any ideas that are still safe for a toddler to climb around on afterwards?

Thanks.

The most important thing to do when you have your carpets professionally cleaned is to wait for the carpet to dry completely. Drying can take several hours if the carpet cleaning business didn’t use proper methods to clean the carpet.

Almost all carpet cleaning companies use large quantities of water in trying to get carpets clean. The theory is that, the wetter the carpet gets, the cleaner the carpet gets. Steam cleaning methods also leave dirty water below the carpet’s surface.

Effervescent carbonated cleaning solutions offer the best results for cleaning carpets. This takes less water than traditional carpet cleaning methods. The carpets aren’t as wet, so they dry much faster. The faster the carpet dries, the faster you can resume your normal routine.

The faster the carpet dries, the less time there is for mold to grow below the surface. If you have someone inexperienced who saturates the carpet too much, the moisture can attract spores. In addition, cleaning residues can hurt your skin and lungs. The residues also get on your clothes and any possessions that touch the carpet.

Using non-toxic powerful chemicals, you get beneath the zeta clear side effects
surface of your carpet without completely saturating it. You can be sure your carpet is cleaned thoroughly and will stay clean longer than with conventional cleaning techniques. With steam cleaning, your carpets get dirty again quickly. This is because dirt is attracted to the residue that remains on the carpet. You should avoid cleaning methods that leave harmful chemical residues on the carpet.

Carpet cleaning should penetrate deep into the carpet padding, but not saturate it. The carbonating method means you don’t have to wait hours or days for your carpet to dry. It cleans deep into the carpet, giving a more thorough cleaning than other methods.

Keith Wroblewski asked:

How do I make my home portable steam cleaner or Home Shampooer work?

Many of you may be asking yourselves why I would teach you how to not need me? The answer is kinda simple. I am in the service industry and we are supposed to serve. I am also hoping that when you need a Colorado carpet cleaner in the future that you will remember me and call or if you have a friend in need you might refer Colorado Carpet Cleaning Masters to them. In this article I will try to answer the most common questions I have received in regards to carpet cleaning with a home machine.

The first step in carpet cleaning is to remove as much of the carpet load or dry soil from the carpet fibers as possible. What happens to dry dirt when you add water? It becomes mud and mud is a lot harder to get out than sand. A sq. yard of carpet may contain up to 8 lbs. of dry dirt. A thorough vacuum of the carpet is the best first step to cleaning the carpet yourself. If you need help in choosing a vacuum, see our free choosing a vacuum guide.

Now that the carpets are thoroughly vacuumed, we want to prespray or precondition the carpet.

This may be the zetaclear canada
most important step in the carpet cleaning process and it is often overlooked by the “professional carpet cleaning company.” Many Colorado carpet cleaning companies will only precondition the spots they see and not the entire carpet. This is akin to taking very dirty jeans and placing detergent on the ketchup spot and ignoring the general grime that the jeans are covered in. After the jeans dried you would have very dirty jeans with a clean spot where the ketchup used to be. To insure that all the carpet gets as clean as possible we must prespray all the carpets before we clean them. We also want the prespray to sit or dwell in the carpet fibers for at least two to twenty minutes before we clean them. It takes the soap bubbles time to pry the dirt off the carpet fiber. If we heat our preconditioner before we apply it, the preconditioner will be more powerful and effective. Once we reach 118 degrees every 18 degrees hotter will double the ability of the detergent to clean. Make sure that you are heating only detergent and non combustible chemicals. This is one reason why you can never get the carpets as clean with a portable cleaner compared to a high heat truck mount carpet cleaner.

After you prespray a section of carpet you can agitate the carpet with a carpet rake and this will help the detergent break the dirt free from the carpet fiber. You don’t want the prespray to dry before you rinse the carpets with your home cleaner. You can use a fresh water rinse or a slightly acidic rinse to flush the detergent and dirt out of the carpet. If you can create airflow and warm air the carpets will dry faster. It is preferred for the carpets to dry within 24 hours. The faster the carpets dry the less wicking or traveling of dirt from the carpets backing will occur. A quick recap:

1. Vacuum carpet thoroughly.

2. Precondition all the carpet to be cleaned

3. Heat the prespray if possible and agitate it into the carpet fibers.

4. Let the preconditioner sit or dwell for 2- 20 minutes

5. Rinse the carpet with fresh water

6. Dry as fast as possible

Myth: You should wait to have your carpet cleaned the first time, because it will never look the same again.

Fact: Waiting for your carpet to be cleaned will do nothing but create possible health hazards and make the job harder for your carpet cleaner. As long as you’ve hired a trained professional, your carpet should look better every time you clean it.

Myth: Carpet cleaning may shrink my carpet.

Fact: Your carpet will not shrink unless the hired cleaner leaves the carpet extremely wet. A professional cleaner will not allow this to happen, but play it safe and check for wetness before they leave your home.

Myth: You should not vacuum your carpet very often or it will deteriorate.

Fact: Studies have shown vacuuming your carpet 4 times a week does no more damage to your carpet than vacuuming it twice a month. In fact, the build-up of dirt and residue in carpet fibers can be harmful to your health, so vacuum frequently.

Myth:  I only have to clean my carpet if it has been stained.

Fact: The dirt and residue that can build up in your carpet over time is not always noticeable on the surface. It is smart to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year by a professional, especially if you have small children in the house.

Myth: I don’t have to clean my carpet because it has built-in stain resistance.

Fact: Although carpets with stain resistance will help with accidental spills, dirt still gets under the fibers. Treat your carpet the same as any other.

Myth: Cleaning your carpet often is bad for it.

Fact: You can never clean your carpet too much. In fact, the more often you clean your carpet, the longer it will retain its original appearance. Carpets aren’t cheap to buy; cleaning simply protects your investment.

Myth: Carpet cleaning can destroy my stain resistance.

Fact: Although stain resistance is by no means permanent, foot traffic actually loosens it up more than anything. Have a carpet cleaning specialist re-apply stain resistance every 3rd cleaning.

Myth: Cheaper cleaners do just as good a job, only for less.

Fact: Don’t hire a cleaner simply because their price is the cheapest. A bad carpet-cleaning job can leave your carpet worse off than it was to begin with.

Myth: I have my own carpet-cleaning machine, so I don’t need to hire a professional.

Fact: Although having your own machine is useful for small stains and fungisil vs zetaclear
routine cleaning, most home machines don’t have the suction power professional machines do. Because of this, the stain gets loosened up, but the residue is not completely removed from the carpet itself. It’s best to still have your carpet cleaned by a professional on occasion.
